Reporting to the Director of Risk Management and Compliance, the Compliance Manager will support the functions and objectives of the Compliance team and assess auditable compliance to all programs and compliance roles assigned to the team. The Compliance team works collaboratively with AltaLink Departments to develop practical systems and controls to manage compliance risks. Efficiency, sound judgment, self-composure as well as a positive attitude are essential attributes for success as the position will be dealing with a multitude of external people and representing the Compliance team.

Responsibilities

Maintain and revise risk-based compliance programs, policies and procedures for the general operation of the Compliance team.

Manage the compliance team to ensure effective and sustainable compliance monitoring programs.

Perform annual risk assessments and direct compliance assessments and monitoring activities in accordance with compliance programs developed in core functional areas, such as Alberta Reliability Standards, Inter-affiliate Code of Conduct, Bill 198, lobbyist registry.

Provide expertise on system development and internal control design to prevent instances of non-compliance.

Provide recommendations for process improvements.

Participate in internal and external audits as requested.

Provide the Compliance Officer the results of the assessments.

Provide assessments of evidence for any non-compliance and participate, as requested, in the self-reporting and remediation processes.

Qualifications

Minimum seven years of experience in compliance, audit and internal control or process design.

Relevant post secondary diploma or degree is required (Business, Commerce, Computer Science, Legal, etc)

Strong Project/Program Management capabilities with demonstrated experience in evaluating risk and identify critical path activities.

Demonstrate ability to bring structure to ambiguous environments and relate will to people at all levels of the organization.

Strong capabilities with people management.

Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Experience with SAP GRC would be an asset, and Consulting experience a plus.

Previous leadership experience would be an asset
