Our client, a major oil and gas EPC are looking to recruit a Lead Electrical Engineer for their Calgary office.
Job Purpose:
To produce electrical engineering calculations and designs for facilities including area classification development, single line drawings, power system analysis, power distribution layouts, lighting layouts, instrumentation wiring layouts, motor schematics, electric heat tracings designs, and any other calculations necessary for the detailed design of a facility.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supervise a group of up to 10 professional and non-professional people performing a variety of tasks in the Electrical Engineering disciplines
- Plan detailed methods of solving assigned problems
- Delegate components to engineers, designers, and draftsmen; see the work through to meet schedules; and coordinate assignments with other disciplines.
- Prepare design notes, calculations, drawings, specifications, and data books.
- Give technical direction to purchasing, and construction in support of the project installation activities.
- Confer, as required, with other senior engineers and management as well as contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Become familiar with and involved in the implementation of the corporate QA plan.
- Liaise directly with the client and act as the company's representative on projects.
- Mentor junior engineers in electrical design practices.
- Perform or supervise cost estimates, project planning, scheduling, and cost control functions.
- Evaluate alternate processes and determine the optimum process for each application.
- Prepare specifications and evaluate vendor bids
- Instruct Electrical Engineers, designers, draftspersons, and secretaries in the preparation of electrical technical documents and drawings.
- Verify, correct, modify, and authorize electrical technical documents and drawings.
- Prepare electrical engineering calculations for the design of facilities
- Discuss applications with vendors.
- Review and approve vendor data.
- Inspect equipment during fabrication for compliance with specifications.
- Prepare start-up and commissioning documents, and coordinate star-up/commissioning of activities as required.
- Prepare engineering manhour and discipline cost estimates.
- Market company expertise for electrical facilities design work.
- Assist, or lead in the preparation of proposals.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Be entitle to work in Canada
- 15-20 years experience in EPC engineering
- APEGGA registration preferred
- Honest and Hard-working
- Strong Technical Knowledge
