Cargill is a large and reputable food company with operations around the world. Cargill Value Added Meats - Foodservice operates a chicken processing plant in London, Ontario and a hatchery in Jarvis, Ontario. The processing plant employs approximately 900 employees and processes 85,000 chickens each day. The hatchery has approximately 70 employees and, on average, produces 150,000 chicks per day. Cargill Value Added Meats - Foodservice operates ground beef processing facilities in Brampton, Ontario and Spruce Grove, Alberta employing approximately 130 employees.
Position Overview:
This position is an excellent developmental opportunity for those pursuing a career in Human Resources. You will be part of the Cargill Meats Human Resources team and will provide support to all areas of Human Resources. The Human Resources Administrator will perform duties in a variety of areas including: managing the HR databases and spreadsheets, maintaining employee files, completing projects as needed and various administrative duties in a confidential capacity.
Principal Accountabilities:
50% - Attendance Program Administration – Responsible for inputing, tracking and monitoring absence data into the system in accordance with our Attendance Management Program. Conducting coaching sessions with stakeholders regarding attendance.
15% - Administration – Responsible for department filing, ordering supplies/forms, answering phone calls, data entry/tracking, printing and posting of seniority lists.
15% - Stakeholder Customer Service – Provide customer service to stakeholders for benefits, payroll, absence and other questions in our Stakeholder Service Center.
10% - Recruitment – Assisting in the hiring process for the flexible work group. Participating in the phone screens, interviews, and ensuring paperwork is completed and turned in.
5% - Recognition Program – Responsible for the selection and ordering of merchandise for the well done program, marketing the program for stakeholders. Maintaining the recognition bulletin boards.
5% - Project Work – Assist in various projects or initiatives.
Qualifications
Required:
Post secondary education
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to handle multiple priorities and multitask
Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to reason with others and communicate diplomatically
Highly organized
Preferred:
Degree or diploma in Human Resources, or related field
One or more years of Human Resources experience in a manufacturing and/or unionized environment
