MITCHELL NURSING HOME
Candidates are invited to apply for the position of Administrator/DOC to work at the Mitchell Nursing Home, a 46-bed long-term care home located in Mitchell,Ontario.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Administrator/DOC is responsible for managing all aspects of nursing care and administrative responsibilities within the home to ensure quality care through the effective, efficient delivery of established standards within legislative and budgetary requirements, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for residents and staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership in the establishment; achieve the residence’s goals and objectives; and manage human, financial and physical resources for the various departments of the residence
Select and develop employees; provide an opportunity for growth and development; create an environment that will increase knowledge and skills among all employees
Liaise and consult with residents, families, government officials, company resources, professionals in relation to resident care needs and department activities and the community in order to maintain a good public image for the residence
Participate in the budgeting process and manage the operation of the facility within budget while overseeing the accounting operations for the residence
Plans, organizes, directs and supervises the activities of the Nursing departments to provide quality resident care and services
Interprets nursing philosophy and establishes and implements goals and objectives, policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory requirements
Maintains all required records, reports, statistics, etc., for both residents and department personnel in accordance with policies, procedures and legislative requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Membership or eligible for membership with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Administrator’s Certification (Minimum 100 hours of instruction time) completed or enrolled
At least three years of working experience as a registered nurse in a managerial or supervisory capacity in a health care setting required or social services sector; and at least one year of experience working as a registered nurse in the long-term care sector required
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills required
Knowledge of applicable legislation, unionized settings and labour contracts preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices and techniques including education
Effective human relation skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
