Reporting to the VAULT Quality Manager, the VAULT Electrical Quality Inspector is responsible for monitoring the quality of electrical work being performed by the construction contractor and ensuring that it adheres to all applicable codes, standards, specifications, drawings, and a reasonable standard of work. The VAULT Electrical Quality Inspector will liaise with the VAULT Construction Team Electrical Coordinator and the contractor’s electrical inspectors to ensure a full and complete understanding of electrical activities at the site.

Responsibilities

Monitor construction activity at the site for compliance to codes, standards, specifications, drawings, and a reasonable standard of work.

Initiate any NCRs and other quality documents related to the work after discussion with the VAULT Quality Manager.

Ensure all necessary electrical checks are completed by the contractor and recorded on the appropriate contractor forms.

Liaise with the VAULT Construction Electrical Coordinator and exchange information to ensure a consistent understanding of issues.

Execute necessary audits related to electrical work and participate in any audits of electrical suppliers and sub-contractors on an as-needed basis.

Attend witness point reviews for electrical work and inspect the work and apparent work technique prior to allowing work to proceed.

Work is only to be allowed to proceed when the level of quality is satisfactory.

Work closely with the Quality Manager to ensure all identified issues are addressed in a timely manner.

Liaise with the turnover team to ensure documents are being completed as work progresses.

Support the VAULT Commissioning Team by participating in walkdowns upon request and monitoring progress on any identified electrical punch items.

Monitor contractor preservation activities for stored electrical equipment and ensure correct and accurate records are being kept.

Qualifications

Journeyman Electrician

Supervisory experience

Minimum 10 years of large scale project construction and/or maintenance experience

Familiar with all relevant electrical codes (an asset to have familiarity to relevant mines regulations)

Ability to read drawings, specifications and vendor documents and understand required accuracy and tolerance

Working knowledge of MS Office

Personal Characteristics/Competencies

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization

Self-starter who works well without micromanagement and meets deadlines

Attention to detail with strong commitment to accuracy

Ability to maintain accurate records

Strong analytical and problem solving skills

Organizational skills and the ability to handle a varied work load

VAULT Programme is derived from VAnscoy’s ULTimate Potash Mine Expansion. The fundamental goal of this project is to reach the ultimate capacity of the Vanscoy, Saskatchewan potash mine. The mega brownfield mine expansion project is expected to generate close to 80+ project-based jobs in the areas of Project Management, Construction Management and Functional Business. The construction phase of the project is expected to require more than 800 tradespersons at its peak, and approximately 3 million man-hours to complete.
