Our client is seeking an Transportation Engineer to join their MTO design group in Kingston. If you have MTO design experience and hold a P.Eng, then this opportunity could be for you.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Providing assistance to senior staff with engineering design projects (highway rehabilitation, structure rehabilitation, passing lanes, preliminary design, etc.)
• Preparing reports and technical specifications, providing input into preparation of engineering service proposals
• Preparing contract documents, contract drawings, and specifications for the design of highways, freeways, drainage features and structures
• Liaising with clients, contractors, and government/regulatory officials
• Overseeing the work of engineering interns and technologists; providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff

Qualifications:

• Hold a P.Eng designation (necessary to stamp drawings)
• A minimum of 5 to 10 years’ experience (need 3 to 4 years of MTO preliminary or detail design experience)
• Experience with all aspects of highway / freeway design (e.g. alignments, geometrics, staging, utilities, roadside safety, constructability)
• Proficient with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, CPS, HiCO, InRoads.
• Knowledge of SAP 2000, Adobe Creative Suite, GIS would be considered an asset
• A General understanding of other road design requirements (drainage/hydrology design, traffic engineering, structural (bridge) engineering, environmental design/mitigation measures, engineering surveys, geotechnical investigations and design, electrical engineering)
• Excellent communication skills (written & oral)
• Bridge design experience would be an asset
