PURPOSE OF JOB:
To plan, organize and manage the organizational activities for Fixed and Rotary Wing ASIP activities of military aircraft. Manage the activities of the ASIP and Computer Support sections in achieving the aforementioned and to provide technical input guidance to the organization.
DUTIES REQUIRED TO ACCOMPLISH JOB:
Develop and maintain a set of internal engineering ASIP procedures and process as related to ASIP activities for various military fleets.
Plan, schedule and organize the activities of the ASIP section.
Provide management and technical advice to Engineering Managers for continued Structural Airworthiness as related to ASIP activities.
Ensure the conduct of ASIP related activities performed within IMP Aerospace Engineering is in accordance with the IMP developed and approved ASIP Master Plans, In Service Structural Maintenance Plan and the Durability and Damage Tolerance Control Plans.
Liaise with military related to the purpose of the job.
Prepare, review or approve technical reports and memorandum related to the department activities for external customers. Approve documents with the delegated or assigned scope of the authority.
Prepare or provide the input to Statements of Work, response for proposals, and project estimates.
Provide input, guidance and interpretation to the Engineering Managers and engineering personnel on IMP internal and related military technical documents.
Evaluate appropriate training opportunities for section staff.
Maintain appropriate numbers and balance of Engineering and related technical skills to accomplish the ASIP section workload.
Provide technical guidance to personnel in the ASIP section for durability and damage tolerance analysis.
Investigate and identify areas of revenue potential that be exploited using the skills and resources of the ASIP section.
Define requirements for, and oversee development of analysis tools software.
Manage the following specific aircraft activities;
Development and maintenance of the Structural Usage Monitoring (SUM) and Structural Condition Monitoring (SCM) Policies, Plans and Processes.
Development and maintenance of the Corrosion Prevention and Control (CPC) Policies, Plans and Processes.
Development and Maintenance of the fatigue monitoring and lifed component tracking Policies, Plans and Processes.
Development and update of Individual Aircraft Tracking, Loads Environment Spectra Survey and DDTA Spectra.
Computer programs testing and documentation using FORTRAN, MS Visual Basic, MS Access and other languages.
Development of related test plans, conduct of on-aircraft and component tests, and analysis and reporting of test results.
Analysis of rotorcraft health usage and monitoring (HUMS) data.
Examination of rotorcraft vibration monitoring data.
Act on behalf of the Direct ASE and Specialty Engineering when requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
B. Eng. Or B. Sc. (Eng.) in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.
Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer is desirable.
Knowledge of military and civilian ASIP, engineering principles, project co-ordination and military aircraft modification processes essential.
Excellent writing skills required.
Management and leadership skills and abilities.
10 or more years of progressive experience and responsibility in an engineering environment.

Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
