Our client, a company located in Richmond, is looking for a Legal Counsel to join their team on an ongoing, temporary basis. In this role, you will assist in protecting the organizations legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law both here in Canada, and in the United States.
This is a part-time position, requiring a minimum of 3 working days per week.
The primary duties and responsibilities will include the following:
Provide hands-on counsel to all levels of staff and management
Advise on managing risk, contracts, content reviews for marketing and promotional materials and regulatory compliance in Canada and in the United States
Be responsible for identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting key documents, presenting clear recommendations, and assuring legal compliance both here in Canada and in the United States
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following skills and attributes:
A graduate from an accredited law school with membership in the law society
A minimum of 5 years of broad legal experience in a corporate environment, preferably in food and drug law
Experience with operations law within Canada and the United States
Familiar with a variety of the fields concepts, practices, and procedures in a direct selling or multi-level marketing companies, will be considered an asset
Experience with commercial transactions and in-depth knowledge of contract law
Strong analytical, drafting and negotiating skills
An understanding of large project risk management practices, business arrangements, and contracting principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Outstanding people skills, including the ability to interact with management in business units, establish and maintain effective working relationships, and function as an integral part of a team
Strong work ethics and able to work excellently as part of a team in a multi-discipline environment
Compensation for this position will be negotiable.
