This position is responsible for the technical execution of Department of Theatre
productions particularly in the areas of lighting, sound, special effects, and
rigging. This position will also direct load-ins, set-ups, rehearsals,
performances, and load-outs in all Fine Arts performance facilities for the
Department of Theatre and, as required, for the Departments of Dance and Music
and Internal/External clients and users. This position will also provide ongoing
technical support to the academic program of the Department of Theatre.
Education:
Post secondary degree/certificate in theatre production or equivalent professional
experience. Indepth knowledge of all aspects of theatre production including
stage management, lighting, sound, scenery construction, rigging, flying,
automation and special effects is required. Working knowledge of the
Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Experience:
Three (3) years related experience (lighting, sound, technical direction) in a
professional theatre or university environment. Experience with a variety
performance types (Theatre, Music, Dance) is an asset.

Dealing courteously and effectively with people. Excellent oral communication
skills to clearly explain techniques and demonstrate use of equipment and
safety procedures. Ability to accurately interpret and summarize information
in a clear and concise manner. Good written communications skills. Excellent
organizational skills including the ability to work independently, set priorities
and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated technical skills:
Ability to draft and read blueprints, floor plans, lighting plots, electrical
diagrams.
