Note: Start date is May 2013. This could be up to an 8 month term position.
This position is a member of the Major Project North Team, in the Projects Department and will report to the Sr. Project Manager, Heartland. The primary objective of this position is to assist and support Engineering and Construction of the Heartland Project.
The following activities will be performed under the guidance of technical staff:
Assist and support Project Manager and Project Engineers with design reviews, field engineering issues, inspection and quality assurance.
In addition to Engineering technical exposure, this position will give the opportunity to be exposed to Project Controls and Project Management fundamentals measurement, reporting and decision making processes as they relate to the execution of the Project.
The candidate will also gain knowledge and exposure to Safety and Environmental compliance objectives for the Project through mentorship from projects leads and assigned tasks.
Civil or Electrical Engineering student who is enrolled in a Co-op/Internship program at a recognized University.
An understanding of Engineering and Construction processes from conceptual design through construction would be strongly desired.
Prior experience related to EPC or Construction would be an asset.
Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook.
Demonstrated team player in a multi-disciplinary team.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Superior interpersonal and communication skills - verbal and written.
Previous heavy industrial experience would be an asset.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
