Senior Business Systems Analyst
SUMMARY:
Under direction of the Director of Software Development, the Senior Business Systems Analyst (BSA) participates in the detailed analysis, design, construction, documentation, and support of desktop and online user interface systems that meet established specifications, design criteria, quality standards and business requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Facilitates the coordination of technical projects by acting as the liaison between the business users and various technology groups, both internal and external.
- Works closely with business managers to gain in-depth understanding of business issues.
- Identifies, analyzes, and translates business needs into functional specifications.
- Works closely with project teams on the implementation of solutions.
- Participates in projects through the various phases, oftentimes acting in a project lead role.
- Provides training and mentoring for other Analysts.
- Oversees the work of other Analysts on the project team.
- Designs, creates, and documents process flows, technical requirements lists, specifications, diagrams, scenarios, mockups, and/or models for the development team using Visio, MS Word, Excel, PDF, SharePoint, and other like tools.
- Designs the user interface flow for stand-alone desktop applications, console clients, B2B orchestrators, and/or comprehensive websites.
- Creates and maintains IT Business Requirement Document (BRD) or Software Requirements Document (SRD) or other equivalent written documentation.
- Reviews business and system requirements with stakeholders and obtains approval signatures to proceed.
- Works closely with Developers to determine technical feasibility of new requests.
- Works closely with Quality Assurance to ensure complete test coverage.
- Collaborates with Developers and Quality Assurance on test plans.
- Participates in user acceptance testing of system enhancements and projects.
- Escalates issues or decisions that have cost or schedule impacts.
- Reviews enhancements and projects after implementation to ensure compliance to specifications and objectives as well as backward compatibility with existing systems.
- Assesses business risk, potential severity, probability and strategy.
- Works on project deliverables while supporting day-to-day production activities.
- Enforces established documentation guidelines and best practices.
- Maintains a high degree of business functional knowledge and current technologies and tools.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures concerning all confidential information including but not limited to internal use and restricted information, including Protected Consumer Information (PCI) and Protected Health Information (PHI).
- Adheres to all Company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Administers duties as defined by the Green Dot performance review plan within the required deadlines.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 7 years professional experience in analysis in an IT environment.
- Strong knowledge of and experience with all phases of the software development life cycle, with an emphasis on requirements elicitation, specification documentation, and communication.
- Strong experience with systems analysis and functional design.
- Demonstration of project leadership acting as a Lead Business Systems Analyst on large-scale projects (6months + in duration).
- Experience working with an internal development team consisting of other Business Systems Analysts, Software Architects, Software Engineers, and Quality Assurance Testers.
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with technical, business, and management staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop cohesive working relationships with internal and external clients.
- Flexibility to adapt to change and willing to learn and develop new skill sets as applicable.
- Pre/post-implementation support skills involving user functional support and high-level troubleshooting.
- Superior project planning skills with the ability to handle large work load, facilitate the activities of dynamic workgroups, and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Understanding of both Client Server and web application development concepts.
- Strong RDBMS skills and SQL knowledge with the ability to write complex SQL statements involving multiple joins and sub-selects.
- Experience with SQL Query Analyzer and related tools, MS Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Bachelor's degree in a business or technical field.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS DESIRED
- Banking and/or credit card systems (stored value systems) experience.
- Project management experience.
- Experience working in an IT development environment based on the Microsoft .NET framework.
