Job Summary:
Reporting to the Senior Reclamation Supervisor - Reclamation Centre, the Technical Specialist will provide technical support to TransAlta's Reclamation Centre including guidance, recommendations and training of operating personnel as appropriate.
This role is based at TransAlta's Alberta Coal Plants, located 70km west of the City of Edmonton.
Responsibilities:Technical support includes:
Keephills Ash Lagoon life extension.
Spraying / weed control coordination.
Water management protocols and inspections.
Piezometer / inclinometer program management and maintenance.
Leading and/or supporting various Reclamation Centre projects.
EH&S support.
Enforcing TransAlta's engineering standards and procedures. Qualifications:
Mining/Civil engineer with 2 to 5 plus years of experience or Technologist with relevant education and experience.
Professional engineer or EIT status with APEGGA or a member of ASET.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and supervision for project groups, contractors and consultants.
Project management experience.
Demonstrated customer service focus.
Environmental management and monitoring is considered an asset.
Civil or geotechnical skills would be an asset.
Advanced computer skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
