This opportunity is for a position in: KelownaSpecific responsibilities: *Provides administrative assistance to the Director of Operations, Operations Team and the National Health and Safety Manager *Participates in various Environmental & Health and Safety meetings; records and circulates minutes as required *Provides weekly OHS updates, stats and trending results to Director and National H&S Manager *Tracks various reports, including but not limited to labor metrics, PMC metrics, training requirements First-Aid occurrence Assists with administration and maintenance of plant metrics, logs, journals, and security and training records as well as administering required plant training procedures *Assists with development and implementation of OHS systems, programs and procedures *Develops and promotes safety awareness via bulletins, brochures and safety presentations *Coordinates and conducts internal and external OHS training, including new hire OHS orientations *Ensures plant compliance through implementation of relevant OHS procedures, programs and regular audits *Advises management, JHSC and employees on OHS issues, and makes recommendations that eliminate or reduce risks and increase safety *Understanding of and knowledgeable in ergonomic assessments and modified return to work programs *Assists Director with audits of internal plant processes & programs *Investigates WCB and other incidents; maintains and submits documentation to appropriate parties
Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications/skills:
- Minimum of 3- 5 years administrative experience with a OHS Certificate or working towards completion, or an equivalent combination of experience and education
- Experience working in a Health & Safety Department in a manufacturing facility is desirable
- Strong communication skills(written and oral) and the ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals
- Strong knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft office, data base management and spreadsheets
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information
