Position Summary:
The Maritime Data Centre for Aging Research and Policy Analysis (MDC), affiliated with the Department of Family Studies and Gerontology, requires a Research Analyst/Coordinator. The Research Analyst/Coordinator will report to Dr. Janice Keefe, Canada Research Chair in Aging and Caregiving Policy, and will be responsible for research analysis and coordination duties on two research grants: “Public and private spending in home care services: The Boomer challenge” (funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research) and “Caregiver supply and demand: Preparing for the future needs of older Canadians” (funded by Human Resource and Social Development Canada).
Under the direction of Dr. Keefe, the Research Analyst/Coordinator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Managing multi-disciplinary, multi-site projects;
Assisting with research grant applications;
Drafting agreements, protocols, presentations, detailed outlines, reports, and a range of knowledge translation products for dissemination to academic, policy and lay audiences;
Assisting with interpreting research results, conducting literature reviews, and analyzing policies;
Secondary data analysis (transferring data into SPSS format, interpreting findings and presenting results in tables, graphs, etc.)
Ensuring project deliverables are met and on-time with project work plans;
Assisting with financial operations of the research grants including budget tracking, and financial administration;
Liaising with University departments, funding agencies and collaborators on behalf of Dr. Keefe;
Organizing stakeholder events/activities and team meetings/teleconferences;
Other research or coordination activities as needed by Dr. Keefe or the MDC.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social science or administration.
Minimum 3 years experience coordinating large multi-site research projects in a university setting.
Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities, written and oral communication skills.
Experience organizing and analyzing large and complex data sets
Data analysis experience using Stata and SPSS
Excellent time management skills.
Proficiency in MS Office products is required.
Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
Terms: Term Position: 2-3 days per week; June 25th 2012 – March 31st 2013
Salary Range: $47,000 – $55,000 per annum ($25 - $30 per hour)
Anticipated Start Date: June 25th 2012
