Reporting to the Project Director, this position is responsible for the execution of Agrium’s Nitrogen Greenfield Project (“Project Lightning”) and ensuring that work is carried out in a safe manner, on time, within budget; that the work is technically sound and of required quality, and provides leadership to the PMO project team.
This is a senior project management position. The candidate must possess in depth knowledge of project management processes and proven experience successfully managing significant multidiscipline industrial projects, and to manage EPCMs to deliver projects within agreed boundaries. Extensive travel within the United States, Europe and Calgary is required
Specific responsibilities will include:
In conjunction with the Project Director define project scope, goals and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. In conjunction with the Project Director develop detailed project plan, budget and identify multi-disciplined resourcing requirements. Monitor and track project milestones, costs, risks and deliverables and develop and deliver progress reports and presentations.
In conjunction with the Project Director manage project execution and ensure resolution of complex issues in all phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, while ensuring adherence to the organization’s environmental, health & safety standards
Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise project team members and contractors and influence them to take positive action and accountability for assigned work
Qualifications of the position include:
Must hold a Bachelors Degree in Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience
Experience in managing multi-discipline projects in the $100M+ range in a chemical or heavy industry facility ideal
PMP designation will be considered an asset
Effective leadership and decision making skills; ability to assign roles and responsibilities and provide leadership to the project team to ensure focus on objectives
Excellent interpersonal, communications, problem solving and planning and organizational skills; must be able to effectively interact with various internal departments
Ability to multi-task in a high paces environment and handle a large and varied workload
Working knowledge of computer tools (database, SAP, MS Work, Excel etc..)
International experience and languages an asset
Knowledge of Agrium internal processes and policies considered an asset.
