Accountabilities: Our Technical Services Team is committed to delivering superior customer service through excellence in power system operations and maintenance. As a valued member of this team your accountabilities will include the following:
Develop and update operating guidelines, protection summaries, system one-line diagrams, and operator displays to support power system operations and NERC compliance
Produce protective relay settings for transmission lines and substations, coordinate relay settings with generation and distribution, and maintain underfrequency load shedding and automatic reclosing schedules
Provide support to Transmission Maintenance & Operations and Transmission Engineering groups on protective relaying design and operation
Operate and maintain disturbance monitoring equipment to assist in the investigation, resolution, and reporting of system outages
Conduct weekly outage coordination meetings
Support outage planning through system studies, the development of guidelines, the development of Short Term Operating Instructions, and the preparation and approval of switching procedures while balancing impact to customers, security, economics, and adequacy of protection
Provide direction to junior engineers to assist in their development
Support System Operator development through the preparation and maintenance of procedures, development of Comptency Based Training, and through operator training sessions
Fulfill Safety Program accountabilities
Support system operations during severe weather events which could jeopardize system security
Integrate the requirements of NPCC criteria and NERC Standards into NSPI procedures
You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environmental management system processes and initiatives. You must demonstrate your commitment to the Capabilities Development Process.
Skills, Capabilities and Experience: You hold a Bachelor´s degree in Electrical Engineering, have a minimum of 2 years related experience, and are a full member (or eligible for membership) in APENS. You possess fully developed technical knowledge in electric utility engineering disciplines and have knowledge of system operations tools (e.g. SCADA, PI). You possess strong oral and written communication skills, a strong customer service ethic, good interpersonal skills, and are able to function effectively in a team environment. You have the ability to provide leadership and technical direction to fellow engineers and technical support staff. You are a self-starter with proven organizational and analytical skills. You possess strong computer skills. You must demonstrate your commitment to personal development. You must be available for after hour consultation and emergency power restoration work. You must possess a valid driver´s license.
