Specific Requirements:
Under direct supervision holds primary responsibility for, monitors and responds to facility hardware and software problems at a single Business Centre; Performs primary responsibilities personally or may be assisted by on-site System Technicians; May interface with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance; Performs workstation and server set up; Performs installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages; Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance. Ensures data/ media recoverability by implementing a schedule of system backups and database archive operations; Conducts routine hardware and software audits of operating system workstations and servers for compliance with established standards, policies, configuration guidelines and procedures; Develops and maintains a database / library of all supporting documentation
Responsibilities:
Utilizes testing tools and techniques for problem solving Supports and ensures operating viability of LAN (Local Area Network) for all hours of operation and reports any abnormalities to the Network Administrator; routinely tunes system for optimum performance Manages local network resources, ensuring adequate inventory supply of existing and updated products Ensures IT area is secured nightly (locks and/or alarms on computer room) Ensures users are properly licensed for product use Analyzes user hardware requirements and makes recommendations to site management Recommends infrastructure upgrades to Lead System Administrator Inputs P.O. specifications and information to administration for I.T. purchasing requirements Sets up incremental and full data backups daily and weekly Ensures departments and agents have appropriate software and hardware to meet their needs Follows up on faulty hardware and software purchases by pursuing warranty advantage through distributors and manufacturers Ensures software, hardware and network installs, re-installs, upgrades, moves, changes and relocations are made when necessary and as required Resolves Helpdesk ticketed problems Support site during off hours and maintain on call status on a rotating basis
Essential Qualifications: Community College or University course completion in a Computer discipline Requires knowledge of PC/LAN communications hardware / software, in a multi-protocol environment, and network management software One year of system support and Local Area Network administration Requires 6 months to 1 year experience in data communications troubleshooting. Experience in IP telephony is a definite assest.
