Job Summary:
Litigation Assistant to support In-House Legal counsel handling defence of personal injury and insurance litigation matters.
Job Responsibilities: Duties include: dicta-typing; filing; keeping lawyer's calendar updated; updating internal database; scheduling examinations for discovery and other appointments
Drafting correspondence and pleadingsOpening and closing files
Requisitioning cheques
File organization
Preparing documents for court attendances
Preparing court forms
Communicating with insureds and claims handlers.
Experience/Skills Required:
Prior experience as a litigation assistant in a defence litigation firm handling personal injury files.
Excellent computer skills including experience with MS Word, Access, Lotus Notes.
Proficient in Rules of Civil Procedure and Court forms.
Customer service oriented.
Excellent organizational skills.
Able to work independently and self starter.
