Role Summary:
The Graphic Designer, Design Services, will provide creative support of Sun Life's digital programs in the Individual Marketing department. This position will report to the Manager, Creative Services. These digital marketing strategies will result in creative and dynamic digital communications, a growth in the breadth and depth of these channels and ultimately enhance the advisor and customer experience with Sun Life Financial.

Main Accountabilities:
Design Individual Marketing's digital communications to advisors and end user clients

Support the development of digital communications channels, including but not limited to: Content design of Sun Life websites, email marketing programs, webcasts, wiki pages, podcasts, videos, mobile & tablet apps and social media tools

Develop relationships with internal stakeholders who support digital communications in the company as well as selected external vendors

Ensure compliance with Sun Life Financial branding standards

Work with external suppliers and internal SLF Print Purchasing buyer to ensure printed support pieces are both creative and cost-effective

Prepare print-ready files according to design specs and directions

Research and develop design solutions in accordance with budget limitations, and identified project objectives

Skills and Knowledge Required:
Sound knowledge of graphic design software, printing technologies and current design trends

Up-to-date computer software skills including graphic design software in a Macintosh environment, (e.g.: Adobe Creative Suite (CS 5.5 or 6) - InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator; Microsoft Office)

Experience with Dreamweaver, HTML5

Willingness to learn new master programs and technologies as they apply to the position

A dynamic portfolio showcasing recent creative work

A clear focus on the user experience

Keen interest in emerging digital trends

Well-developed communications skills

Ability to work within pre-set deadlines and budgets

Scrupulous attention to visual and print detail

Responsive interpersonal and consulting skills

Working knowledge of print production

Creative thinker with good digital design sense

Experience developing digital applications

Ability to analyze, consult, negotiate and influence

Ability to follow process, but exercise flexibility (where appropriate)

Take initiative and recommend process improvements

Ability to connect deliverables and see larger context

Excellent interpersonal skills

Understanding of layout and design principles

Required Qualifications:
Post-secondary education, including completion of a Graphic Design program at a recognized college; or an undergraduate degree in a related discipline

1 - 3 years' experience in a marketing or communications role

Assets:
Experience in Vignette, After Effects, Flash, CSS & Javascript

Bilingual (English/French)

Financial services experience

Creative agency experience
