Our Client, an innovator in energy solutions, is looking for a skilled and organized Infrastructure Planning Specialist to be a part of their growing team. Answering to the Manager, Infrastructure Planning, you will be working in a fast-paced, changing and growing environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced specialist who has created and maintained an infrastructure roadmap and managed a portfolio of IT infrastructure projects. This role is right for you if you have great customer service skills, strong analytical and organizational skills, a proven ability to manage small and medium sized projects and superior written and oral presentation skills.
Your Challenge
In this role you will create and maintain an Infrastructure Roadmap by researching and recommending future IT infrastructure. You will also:

Perform IT infrastructure capacity planning, technology evaluations and recommendations
·
Develop long-term technology lifecycle strategy for IT infrastructure domains such as desktop hardware and software, storage and data recovery, server and data center, voice and data technology, network and security, and communication and collaboration
·
Identify and prioritize IT infrastructure initiatives to plan appropriate projects. Identify functional and technical requirements, define project scope, identify project resourcing requirements and develop project budget estimates

Prepare business cases for project funding approval
·
Manage a portfolio of IT Infrastructure projects, in coordination with external service providers and suppliers
·
Develop a communication strategy regarding the infrastructure upgrade/change plans, site impacts, transition plans and responsibilities of all
·
Identify potential conflicts arising from policies, standards and guidelines, or technology architecture, and recommend solutions for resolution. Identifies technical change management activities, and participates in quality control reviews and production turnover activities.

Analyze and process complex IT infrastructure requests to ensure that the specified technology is appropriate in the IT infrastructure environment.

Determine the technology requirements and assess the impact of the request, advising on alternatives and specifying the technical work in detail
·
Approve the technology requests when appropriate and ensures that the submitted requests are completed
·
Develop and maintain workflow procedures and processes, as well as IT guidelines, standards and policies such as security guidelines and policies related to the acceptable use of IT assets, desktop and server hardware and operating system standards, and server and storage virtualization guidelines.
Your Background
To be considered a strong candidate for this role you must demonstrate advanced knowledge of end-user computing, data center, server and virtualization, data storage and backup, networking, telecommunications, security and peripherals, ideally supported with 5 years of directly relevant work experience. You should also hold a Bachelors degree in Computer Sciences, Information Systems, Business Administration or other relevant field (with an IT emphasis) and hold a valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver’s license.
