PURPOSE OF JOB:
To plan, organize and manage the organizational activities primarily for the structural analysis support services applied to military and civilian aircraft programs both in plant and external to IMP. Manage the activities of the structural support section in achieving the aforementioned and to provide state of the art stress analysis activities and guidance to the organization.

DUTIES REQUIRED TO ACCOMPLISH JOB:
Develop and maintain a set of internal engineering stress analysis procedures and manage Senior, Intermediate and Junior Stress Engineers within department.

Plan and organize the activities of the structural support section as a primary function and also those of the computer support group as a secondary function.

Provide organizational management and technical advice to Engineering Branch Managers for structural analysis support.

Ensure the conduct of stress analysis and other airworthiness related activities performed within IMP Aerospace Engineering is in accordance with accepted procedures.

Prepare, review or approve technical reports and memorandum related to the department activities for external customers. Approve documents with the delegated or assigned scope of authority.

Prepare or provide the input to Statements of Work, response for proposals, and project estimates.

Provide input, guidance and interpretation to the Engineering Branch Managers and personnel for IMP structural analysis practices.

Evaluate appropriate training opportunities for section.

Maintain appropriate numbers and balance of Engineering and related technical skills to accomplish the sections workload.

Investigate and identify areas of revenue potential that may be exploited using the skills and resources of the Structural support section.

Oversee various structural analysis projects on Fixed Wing and Rotary Wing aircraft, including analysis of repairs and modifications, and failure investigations.

Oversee stress analysis in support of durability and damage tolerance analysis.

Schedule and prioritize structural analysis projects.

Answer technical questions from section staff and other departments.

Develop analytical methods and loads.

Define requirements for, and oversee development of, analysis tools software.

Development of test plans, conduct of on-aircraft and component tests, and analysis and report of test results.

Perform personnel assessments.

Act on behalf of the Director of Aeronautical Support Engineering and Specialty Engineering when requested.

QUALIFICATIONS:
B. Eng. Or B. Sc. (Eng.) in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent combination of knowledge and experience.

Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer is desirable.

Knowledge of military and civilian, engineering principles, project co-ordination and military aircraft modification processes essential.

Excellent writing skills required.

Management and leadership skills and abilities.

10 or more years of progressive experience and responsibility in an engineering environment.

Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Good Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
