This position coordinates and oversees the Disability Management program through continuous improvement of processes to meet the needs of the organization. Provide guidance and support to various Managers, in the areas of policy development and integration, communication and training. Responsible for file management, return to work program planning, documentation requirements and ensuring legislative compliance and the elimination of financial costs associated with claims to achieve maximum financial and operational success.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Oversees the development and management of the Disability Management program.
Provides guidance to Managers in regards to policy interpretation and the appropriate training.
Oversees the adjudication, case management and return to work planning for all short term and long term disability and WCB claims.
Develops a modified work program and adapts it to apply the specific needs of affected employees and works collaborative with service providers.
Develops and communicates policies related to claim management to the company and individual teams while ensuring compliance with Human Rights legislation.
Participates in the data collection process to ensure accurate information is recorded and reported.
Ensures costs are accurately tracked to understand accident insurance related costs and develop programs to reduce insurance premium costs.
Ensures the company is in compliance with WCB legislation and insurance company policy which is directly related to claims.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Health related discipline or Diploma / Certificate in Disability Management or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2– 5 years experience dealing with Occupational Health or Disability management issues, employment legislation, Human Rights and other claim related issues.
Working knowledge of WCB legislation and appeals process and Insurance Benefits plans.
Well developed skills in the use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
High level of sound and independent judgment, reasoning and discretion.
Adaptable and able to work effectively in a fast paced and rapidly changing business environment.
Ability to work with a diverse workforce and interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
