The Opportunity:
Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers is hiring an experienced, detail oriented Fixed Asset Administrator on a part-time basis to join the Corporate Accounting team located at our global head quarters in Burnaby, BC . The fixed asset administrator is responsible for managing the administration of fixed assets.
This is an on-going part- time position working 4 hours per day for a total of 20 hours a week.
Create and monitor a system of controls, procedures, and documents for the recordation of fixed assets.
Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies related to fixed assets.
Set up master information for each new asset.
Record fixed asset acquisitions, transfers, and dispositions in the accounting system (Oracle).
Work closely with the Properties and IT Departments.
Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary-level account in the general ledger.
Generate monthly depreciation expense in the accounting system for all fixed assets and review for accuracy.
Assist with preparation of fixed asset continuity schedule.
Monitor and reconcile clearing accounts on a monthly basis.
Generate and review monthly fixed asset reports.
Investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
Conduct periodic impairment reviews for intangible assets.
Coordinate periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets by offices and auction sites worldwide.
Recommend to management whether fixed assets should be disposed of.
Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
Assist with preparation of audit schedules relating to fixed assets, and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
Answer general fixed asset-related questions from employees in the offices and auction sites around the world.
Assist with calculation of gains or losses on disposal of fixed assets. Here's what you bring:
Diploma or certificate in accounting.
1-2 years experience capital assets.
An eye for detail and accuracy.
Strong computer skills; MS Office and MS Excel.
Strong planning, organizational and communication skills.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize under tight deadlines.

Strong interpersonal skills and team work oriented.
