JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Graduate from a recognized community college and/or university program in public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field
Minimum of 2 – 3 years of relevant work experience including web authoring, preferable in a municipal setting
Experience in all aspects of public relations including communications planning and implementation, as well as research and writing for internal and external audiences
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, ability to deal with all levels of the department and organization, able to work independently as well as in a team setting
Strong project management and coordination skills are required combined with excellent organizational, problem solving and time management skills
Detail oriented and able to manage concurrent projects and work to sometimes tight and conflicting deadlines
Creative with a good sense of webpage design as well as content management
Good technical skills; experienced in ATG publishing and SharePoint
Excellent knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat
Experience in the use of Social Media
Knowledge of Photoshop and Dreamweaver an asset
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will report to the Manager, Office Services and will be responsible for:
Performing the duty of a web author and administrator for the department’s external web site (“e-City”) as well as internal web site (“Inside Mississauga”)
Create an inventory of the department’s external web pages and make recommendations to ensure that content reflect the department’s strategic priorities
Benchmark with other municipalities to establish best practises, gather metrics and other information re website visits and make recommendations to stakeholders
Research, write and edit articles, ensuring that key messages are accurate, relevant and appropriate for the target audiences
Act as a consultant to project teams and staff and assist with communications plans, strategies and use of appropriate communications tools for delivery of key messages
Work closely with DLT and Corporate Communications to plan and execute the strategic roadmap for web based communication
Create new or update existing web pages with relevant content to ensure quality and effectiveness and post pages to the web
Problem solve technical issues
Work closely with the IT Enterprise team on new initiatives such as dynamic portals
Coordinate/write/edit copy for non-web based communications
Provide support to Inside Mississauga content contributors
Solicit and post articles and other communication material for Inside Mississauga, e-newsletters, blogs and other forms of web and non-web communication
Promote use of Social Media as a communication tool when appropriate
Perform other related duties as assigned
SALARY: $54,330 - $72,440
