Position: General Manager (contract - 6 mos) Location: St. John's, NL Overview:
We are currently seeking a General Manager (GM) to take on a 6 month contract role (with possible extension) to successfully manage our retail foodservice operations at the Confederation Complex in St. John's, Newfoundland. More information can be found here: www.dineonsite.ca/govnl Duties:
In this role, the GM oversees the operations of multiple units situated in two different locations and is involved in all phases of operational planning and expenditures, budgeting, costing and sales reporting.
The GM is responsible for the implementation of retail and marketing programs in the respective areas such as the Restaurant, Cafe, Catering services and satellite kiosks.
The GM is accountable for menu planning, staffing, scheduling, client and customer relationship building as well as ensure strict compliance of Compass Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Programs.
This position is responsible for overseeing three units with 15 – 20 associates. ** The operation runs Monday to Friday and is closed for major holidays. * Successful finalist must obtain security clearance.
Qualifications
Required: (please only apply if you meet all required qualifications):
Post secondary education plus a minimum of 3 years related management experience in a fast paced restaurant/food service environment
Solid knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls and presentation
Strong ability to communicate and function successfully across all organizational levels
Experience with upscale, trendy food production for catering functions is a must
Proven management skills, capable of motivating, leading and developing associates in a unionized environment
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Highly organized and able to work in a fast paced environment with changing work priorities
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Successful finalist must obtain security clearance.
Assets:
Advanced FST Certification (or will become Advanced FST certified within 90 days of assuming position)
