We are looking for a Manager, IT Operations and
Infrastructure Support to be based in our Woodstock, NB
office. This position will report to the Director of IT Support.
The Manager IT Operations and Infrastructure Support will be a
"hands on" Manager who will bring expertise to a team responsible
for the day to day operation of the end to end IS/IT environment at
Xplornet Communications Inc.
Key responsibilities include:
Owning and managing the IT Service Desk including all
trouble ticket management.
Managing all desktop and field operations services. This
will include maintaining and supporting users' desktops, laptops,
and mobile devices
Developing, implementing and ensuring of ongoing adherence to
proper ITIL processes for configuration, incident, problem, change,
and asset management.
Purchasing of internal IT hardware and software, and blackberry
and cell phone deployment, maintenance and support.
Overseeing the operation of the data centre facility in
Woodstock, IT security and the business continuance and disaster
recovery programs.
Monitoring and management of local area computer network that
is used by the company's employees as well as Internet
access. This will include network maintenance,
troubleshooting, and problem resolution
Replacement of defective applications and installation of
software.
Documenting all network issues and changes, as well as
conferring with other leaders in regards to network problems and
solutions.
Network maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem
resolution
Monitor usage and network traffic
Maintain access control lists and security protocols
Create, update, and maintain network related documentation
Administer Active Directory services
Maintain system backup and procedures
Maintain access control lists and security protocols
In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities noted above, this
position will be responsible for developing all of the ongoing IT
operational processes and strategy to address these day-to-day
responsibilities and the IT Operational and Infrastructure strategy
to support Xplornet's 5-year growth plan.
They will provide direct leadership for employees within the IT
Operations team including performance management, skill and career
development and resource allocation. They will also work
closely with the Director, IT Application Development to ensure IT
system availability through seamless IT processes from ideation
through to implementation and ongoing support. This position will
work closely with the Director Network Operations to ensure all
activities between IT and Network are coordinated well to provide
top-notch service for our customers.
The ideal candidate will possess:
10 years experience in various aspects of IT Operations and
working knowledge of ITIL standards
Experience managing an operational team
Solid programming skills in VoIP, Linux server, TCP/IP, DNS
& DHCP, Security, Microsoft Server
Knowledge of Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls
Knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations TCP/IP, VPN, IPSec,
Radius
High level knowledge of all aspects of Internetworking and
direct experience in applying it
Ability to deal professionally at all levels of the
organization
Grasps new material quickly, has proven initiative in
independent research, attention to detail, and a positive
attitude
Ability to develop strong working relationships with executive,
business clients and other IT teams
Excellent communication (oral/written), presentation,
negotiation, and influencing skills
Good understanding in performance management principles,
compensation and employee recognition programs
Good understanding of Internet technologies and protocols (FTP,
SSH, SMTP, etc.)
Knowledge of business accounting principles, process
improvement techniques, business case development
Computer hardware and software knowledge
Good knowledge of computer security systems
