Summary of Duties
- Reporting to the Client Manager, the incumbent plays a major role in managing client relationships and in managing small to medium client implementations.
Responsibilities
- Functions as a team leader, overseeing work for analysts and senior analysts
- Provides feedback to manager regarding performance of analysts and senior analysts
- Attends internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends
- Participates in the development of employee communication material, such as pension booklets and yearend statements
- Reviews simple to moderate calculations for terminations, retirements and death benefits completed by analysts and senior analysts
- Performs moderate to complex calculations, and processes and authorizes payment of termination, retirement and death benefits in a timely fashion
- Prepares and reviews year-end annual pension statements for small to medium clients and ensures accuracy of such. -Ability to identify special circumstances
- Assists the actuary in preparing membership and asset data for valuations, and resolves data issues
- Participates in preparation of monthly invoices for clients
- Ensures that quality control and service standards are attained with every transaction
- Maintains excellent relationships with clients, through regular telephone contact and office visits (where possible)
- Provides information to clients regarding administration issues, timing, deadlines, etc
- Attends retirement committee meetings
- Identifies inefficiencies with team administration processes and recommends improvements
- Participates on special projects as required
Requirements
- Four to seven years of DB Pension Administration experience
- Post-secondary education and related courses in Pension Administration
- Strong knowledge of all provincial pension and tax legislation
- Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen
- Excellent communication, project management, presentation and negotiation skills
- Strong leadership and team building skills
- Highly organized, ability to take initiative and be independent
- A good understanding of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word and Excel
- Experience with pension administration software
