Main Purpose & Function
The Web Performance Specialist maintains and enhances the efficient and effective delivery of the City and Park Board online information, services and engagement opportunities through implementation of digital research and best practices in the areas of design, user experience, usability testing, web analytics and other web performance tools and indicators.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Supervisor, Web Performance, this position ensures compliance with web standards and practices in the areas of design, user experience, usability testing, web analytics and other web performance tools and indicators. The Web Performance Specialist evaluates data such as web analytics, and iterative usability testing; evaluates emerging and current application requirements, recommends and implements solutions related to online functionality
and interaction. The Web Performance Specialist iteratively conducts usability testing and adapts design interfaces; prepares and tests prototypes; develops or adapts CMS templates; and optimizes site navigation, usability accessibility and searchability.
The position also liaises and works with technical specialists on technical and operational processes related to product development; and the resolution of development issues. Other duties/responsiblities as assigned.
A university or professional college degree in user experience design, human-computer interaction, information design, industrial design, information technology digital communications, along with 3 - 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas: web tools, web software, internet analytics, user experience, search optimization, and/or quality assurance testing; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Usability Analyst
Certification through Human Factors International or project management certification an asset.
In addition, the successful candidate must have demonstrated experience conducting user and product research; and demonstrated experience designing, testing, installing and monitoring websites, web pages, and applications (or products).
Must have considerable knowledge of web and application (or product) tools, software, and Internet technologies applicable to analytics and evaluation of site usability, accessibility, searchability and performance. Considerable knowledge of best practices, trends, standards, and guidelines related to online design, functionality, and technical development. Knowledge of related computer software such as WebTrends, Google Analytics, Treejack is an asset.
The ability to evaluate, assess, recommend, and implement product design requirements, standards, best practices, methods, trends, and tools. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety to internal and external contacts, and to work collaboratively with others. The ability to perform thorough, complete and accurate work; along with the ability to to prioritize and organize work, handle multiple assignments and meet
deadlines is required. Must have proficiency with MS Office Suite.
