Wanted: Junior Production Designer for CG Animation Studio

About the position:

The Junior Designer is an essential creative on the Design team. Working under the supervision of the Art Director, the Junior Designer creates original concepts and designs for the production that appear in the show (including turnarounds/rotations). They strive to maintain the show style with their designs and keep them working within the story specifications. They communicate effective and production-friendly solutions when requested, and participate in production-related meetings offering thoughts and ideas.

Responsibilities and duties:

Create and colour all designs
Complete work assigned within the scheduled timeframe
Keep designs manageable and in line with the modeling days allotted for it
Read script and discuss prop concepts with Art Director
Accept feedback on designs and executes on changes quickly
Stay up to date with shows by watching animatics
Keeps their work orders current and accurate in the Design and Modeling Approval System (DMAS)
Keeps Art Director in the loop on all activities and any issues that may arise
File management – keep files efficiently organized
Carry out all duties in a professional and positive manner

Qualifications and experience:

1+ year in graphic design
BA/BFA Degree in Fine Arts or Commercial Arts field an asset
Must have strong 2D design experience
Experience in multimedia content, film and television work
3D design and modeling experience a definite asset
Must possess excellent communications, interpersonal, and multi-tasking skills
Self management and reviewing one’s own schedule is required, as is notifying production of any tasks that may be missing or improperly specified
Have experience interfacing with other designers, modellers, animators and directors
Excellent communication skills (able to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas)
Strong problem solving skills
Thrive in a high pressure, deadline oriented environment
Enjoys working in team atmosphere and has a proactive approach to work
