Wanted: Director of Human Resources

About the position:

Nothing is more important at Nerd Corps than our people. Our Director of Human Resources is part of Nerd Corps’ Senior Management team and drives Human Resources initiatives in the areas of strategic planning, employee relations, recruiting, compensation, training & development, and performance management. They work with senior management to conceive, implement and oversee effective policies and procedures aligned with the company’s culture and values to build and maintain a happy and effective work force.

Responsibilities and duties:

Develop and maintain a long-term strategic Human Resources plan in support of our initiatives and corporate goals.
Lead and develop a team of Human Resources professionals.
Create strategies to improve employee productivity and satisfaction.
Provide leadership to management to ensure employee retention across the organization.
Effectively perform HR department budget forecasting and monitoring.
Ensure that Nerd Corps policies and procedures are in direct accordance with Provincial and Federal Employment, WorkSafe and CFSA Standards.
Ensure and promote a healthy supportive team culture and that the integrity of the HR department is consistent and sound.
Always strive to attract and recruit the best artists, crew and corporate hires.

Qualifications and competencies:

5+ years of progressive HR experience, some knowledge of the animation and interactive industries is considered a bonus.
Ability to maximize relationships, build trust, and communicate effectively.
Analyze HR issues and provide information, direction and advice as needed.
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills and the ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to provide employee relations support as needed.
Good planning, time management, prioritization, and organizational skills are essential.
The ability to multitask and handle competing priorities under the pressures of deadlines is required.
Well-rounded work history, understanding of work permit process, and
ability to travel internationally.
