WAGE $15.85 - $17.21/HR DEPENDING UPON QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

2 responsible & motivated individuals are required commencing April 28 to September 2, 2014

This position is 80 hrs bi-weekly until September 2 with variable shifts including a compressed work week (4 x 10hr days). Under the supervision of the Museum & Visitor Centre Supervisor, in cooperation with key Town of High Level personnel; the Museum & Visitor Information Provider will be responsible for the ongoing daily operation and programs of the Mackenzie Crossroads Museum & Visitors Centre.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

The minimum level of education required to perform these duties is:

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Post Secondary education in tourism, museum, education, or related field of studies an asset.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

- Knowledge of the High Level area.
- Must be able to work evenings, and weekends
- Experience dealing with the public in a customer service industry;
- Experience with accurate cash handling/reconciliation;
- Demonstrated strong organizational and communication skills;
- Ability to work under minimal supervision within a team environment;
- Computer knowledge in a wide variety of programs.

JOB DESCRIPTION
VISITOR SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE/ MUSEUM ASSISTANT (Summer)

Reporting to the Museum Supervisor, in cooperation with the department of Community Services, the Town of High Level personnel and other community organizations, services, and programs; the employee will be responsible for the ongoing daily operations, services, and programs in accordance to approved Policies and Procedures. The Employee may be required on an ongoing basis to attend applicable training, workshops, seminars and courses at the discretion of the Employer in order to facilitate job knowledge and performance.

MAJOR DUTIES

1. Provides information, contact, referral, and literature to the public in a courteous professional manner (must become familiar with services and amenities available in High Level and area).

2. Process sales of Gift Shop items, ensuring accurate handling of funds.

3. Maintains all operation aspects of the facility on a daily basis, including physical maintenance of building and grounds and security, notifying supervisor of problems. This includes but is not exclusive to light housekeeping.

4. Maintain appropriate records, financial and statistical for the Centre.

5. Assist with development and delivery of public/children’s programming and tours.

6. Assist the supervisor in long/short term planning of exhibits/events/celebrations and help coordinate their production.

7. Undertakes projects to assist with the development and upgrading of services. (Improve displays, programs, exhibits, and appearance of facility).

8. Assists with the Collections Management in accordance with Standard Practices.

9. Maintains an effective working relationship with other key personnel, including, but not exclusive to: all Town of High Level staff and departments, community groups, school staff, the business community, High Level & District Chamber of Commerce, provincial and regional museum and tourism associations.

10. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of the Mackenzie Crossroads Museum & Visitors Centre.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
The minimum level of education required to perform these duties is:

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent;
- Experience working with the public and children;
- Ability to work under minimal supervision;
- Familiarity with High Level and area;
- Computer knowledge in a wide variety of programs
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Assets:
- Post-secondary education in tourism, museum, education, or related, field of studies;
- Ability to innovate and create exhibits, displays, and events;
- Standard First Aid certificate

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Must be able to work a compressed work week (10 hour days)
- Must be able to work alone
- Provide quality customer service
