Responsibilities:

  • A BI Consultant brings deep knowledge of the business functions and the underlying data architecture and models, the end-to-end business processes that coordinate various business functions, and the role each business area performs in the context of these business
  • Develops strategies directly with the client for the development and implementation of solutions to business problems.
  • Accountable for the development of conceptual, logical and physical data models, metadata definitions and models, work processes, schedules, and maintenance procedures related to BI/DW
  • Accountable for the design models required to extract, transform, cleanse, and load data into a data warehouse, data mart, operational data store, or OLAP cube, accommodating source system changes and new business requirements as required
  • Responsible for development and implementation of data quality standards, process and metrics as related to BI/DW
  • Responsible for meeting established data quality levels in solutions modeling, ensuring that data quality standards, processes and metrics are aligned with the established Company standards
  • Responsible for identification, development and implementation of metadata models required for BI/DW solutions, ensuring that metadata models and standards are aligned with the established Company standards
  • Works with business analyst(s) to translate requirements into robust BI/DW solutions, including recommendation of appropriate scope of requirements
  • Coordinates with various business and technical groups whose support is needed to build or deploy BI/DW solutions
  • Creates a robust, sustainable architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion given budgetary constraints and availability of data and skilled resources
  • Coordinates ongoing process, model and design improvements as related to BI/DW
  • Defines and documents the technical architecture of the data warehouse, including the physical components and functionality
  • Provides effort estimates for technical BI/DW components
  • Evaluates and recommends various data warehousing and business intelligence tools and components
  • Coordinates development, integration, administration, and evolution of the data warehouse
  • Develops architecture, use-case, capacity planning analysis and strategy documentation
  • Standardizes use of BI tools and semantic layers throughout the organization
  • Provides repository of best practices on how to install, configure, and use BI tools for more productivity
  • Works with business analysts to identify and understand source data systems
  • Maps source system data models to data warehouse models
  • Works with end users and business analysts to ensure tight fit between BI environment and business requirements
  • Designs and manages the BI/DW solution environment
  • Provides leadership and guidance to other team members as required

Desired Skills/Experience:

  • A university degree or a diploma from a recognized institution, with specialization in the Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Commerce or Engineering field
  • 10 or more years direct involvement in data management and planning functions around structured data
  • 10 or more years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with significant exposure to managing IT initiatives, software development projects, and IT governance
  • Information Management certification or equivalent training will be an advantage
  • Experience and familiarity with information management software tools is an advantage
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective interpersonal skills especially in the areas of written and verbal communications and facilitation
  • Customer service, organizational and negotiation skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
