Human Resources – Recruitment Officer

Columbia International College (CIC) is the largest private boarding school in Canada. CIC has an enrollment of 1800 students from over 73 countries. As a boarding school, students live, sleep, eat, study, play and learn while staying in one of our 5 residences. We are currently looking for a Recruitment Officer to join us in the delivery of our Total Care Education System.

The Recruitment Officer reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and is responsible for full-cycle recruiting.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Pre – Recruitment:

  • Ensure that hiring managers complete authorization to hire forms
  • Work with hiring managers to develop a clear and thorough understanding of the position: responsibilities of the role, competencies required for the position, group dynamic of the department
  • Work closely with managers to ensure an accurate job description is completed
  • Track all job competitions in a central database
  • Research and recommend new sources for active and passive candidate recruiting

Recruitment:

  • Advertise openings using the appropriate media: newspaper advertisements, professional organizations, job board, social media, & internal web site
  • Communicate regularly with hiring managers on progress and timelines
  • Prescreen applications and develop a pool of qualified candidates
  • Conduct prescreening interviews
  • Facilitate the interview and selection process
  • Ensure that final selections are documented properly

Post-Recruitment:

  • Complete reference checks
  • Prepare all necessary documentation for a hiring package (resume, completed references, rating scale, and authorization) and submit it to the Human Resources Manager for approval
  • Call successful candidate with job offers, and schedule orientations
  • Send unsuccessful candidates thank you letters
  • Perform other special projects as assigned

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • A passion for recruitment
  • Undergraduate Degree, or College Diploma, in Human Resources Management
  • 2 – 3 years experience recruiting for all levels of an organization
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills
  • Solid understanding of recruitment best practices and the use of social media
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Experience with mass recruitment is considered an asset

Position Start Date: As soon as possible
Salary Range: $38,000 - $40,000/year
Position Type: Full-time, permanent
