The Supplier Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the implementation of the incoming inspection program as it relates to Purchased Items as defined by the Quality Management System. In additiion, the QA Specialist works directly with the suppliers and purchasing to resolve Quality issues, administration of Supplier Corrective Action request, supports manufacturing investigations for component failures and produces monthly Supplier Measure of Performance Reports. The QA Specialist works directly with Program Managers and Planning to determine the impact of supplier non conformances or escapes and with the Quality Director to define supplier approval methods, audit frequency, and surveillance requirements.


1. Identification of inspection criteria for purchased items

2. Evaluation, approval and audit of suppliers

3. Produce and maintain Approved Supplier Directory, Supplier Quality Requirements Manual

4. Monitor supplier quality performance on a monthly basis

5. Review and approval of Purchase Orders and Part History Cards

6. Assists and/or lead failure investigations for components from product returned from the field or in-house failures (8D, Engineering Investigation) and assist/produce associated reports

7. Non-conformance disposition and participation/approval of MRB decision

8. Lead or Co-lead supplier Corrective Action Boards

9. Coordinate/produce FAI’s for new or revised assemblies

10. Participate in evaluating and providing disposition of supplier concessions

11. Acceptance and release of product in accordance with customer, regulatory and internal requirements (Customer delegations for acceptance and release of product) (Regulatory requirements for new & repaired product)

12. Participate in the evaluation/approval of substitute/alternate components

13. Participate in Production Readiness Review Meetings

14. Create/review internal Quality procedures and work instructions

15. Provide coaching and mentoring to other team members

16. Other duties as assigned


1. Degree or Diploma in an electrical or mechanical engineering field or equivalent combination of training and experience

2. Minimum of three years’ experience with comprehensive Quality Management Systems preferably AS9100

3. Certified Quality Auditor

4. Familiarity with Regulatory requirements is an asset, preferably Canadian Aviation Regulations

5. Experience in an electronics manufacturing/assembly environment, preferably IPC-A-610 Class 3

6. Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and e-mail

7. Excellent analytical, strong verbal and written communication skills

8. Must be able to effectively handle conflicting priorities with limited supervision.
