We are currently seeking a Project Manager/Engineer to join our Power group in our Regina office. The successful candidate will possess both technical and leadership experience, with the ability to balance the business/client and technical needs of this role. You are an individual who is conscious of the finer details and is very process orientated; you can also step back and look at the “big picture”. You take a collaborative approach, look for new initiatives and do not dismay when new processes or procedures need to be created. Experience in heavy Industrial projects, Oil and Gas, Mining, and Power Generation is desirable; Project Management experience is required.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner.
Utilize strong technical skills, project management abilities, process orientation, and mentoring skills in leading multidiscipline design teams in the execution of projects
Manage financial aspects of assigned projects.
Prepare project workload forecasts and project performance analysis.
Ensure that clients’ needs are met in a timely and cost effective manner.
Prepare project documentation that promotes efficient execution
Lead the mechanical or chemical process design process on projects of various size and complexity
Keep current on state-of-the-art developments in the Power sector and disseminate relevant information to the team
Initiate, create / coordinate development of standards and procedures to build an efficient environment for people to thrive in and deliver predictable product quality for the client,
Prepare and review specifications and reports
Foster new business development opportunities by maintaining and growing current business and client relationships and providing support on new client opportunities
Develop and implement “win” strategies, including client contact and participate in proposal preparation
Deliver solutions and troubleshooting to support the mechanical team on client and technical issues
Initiate new processes, procedures and standards
The successful candidate will possess the following:
Process/Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
P.Eng. designation or confirmation of eligibility with APEGS
Solid Experience in Project Management is mandatory in power, industrial, oil and gas or mining
Minimum 10 years of experience in either Mechanical or Process/Chemical technical discipline is required.
Experience in full cycle project environments in electric generating plants (10 – 500MWe range), industrial, mining, or oil and gas.
Knowledge and background in power plant systems, power generation, power utilities, and operational experience is preferred
Knowledgeable or interested in Carbon Capture or Carbon Technologies
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; presentation skills are a requirement in both client and team meetings
Passion for organization and standard work processes
Ability to coordinate projects and people
Interest and demonstrated ability to engage with and mentor staff
Adaptable, flexible and open to change or new ideas
Ability to support proposal development and business development depending on the needs of the business.
