CDI College, Pointe-Claire campus is currently seeking a qualified Instructor to teach the Medical Office Administration program.

Under the general supervision of the Campus Director, the instructor is responsible for providing instruction according to the prescribed curriculum and facilitating student learning according to the prescribed curriculum. The instructor must have relevant work/industry experience and demonstrate strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Commitment to undergraduate teaching is necessary.

The instructor must be available to work on a part-time basis, approximately 20 hours a week, Monday through Thursday between 1H00 and 6H00PM.

Although the program taught is in English, preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate strong communication skills in both French and English

Specific Responsibilities

Reporting to the Campus Director or Campus Coordinator, the Medical Office Administration Instructor is accountable for the following:

  • Dealing with students, staff and other instructors in a professional, courteous and helpful manner;
  • Delivering instruction that meets module and program objectives as set out in the curriculum;
  • Preparing lesson plans and teaching aids that utilize a variety of teaching methods which will promote the attainment of desirable goals of students;
  • Discussing students’ progress with them individually and as a group;
  • Explaining the course outline and expectations to students;
  • Participating in the development and evaluation of curriculum and instructional materials, as required;
  • Attending Instructors’ meetings, as required;
  • Knowing, understanding and abiding by the employer’s policies and procedures in connection with the students and instructors;
  • Cooperating with the administration staff in the performance of their duties;
  • Maintaining relevant industry skills and knowledge;
  • Fill and submit the student’s attendance records in a timely manner;
  • Filling the final examinations assessments and submitting the grades in the five business days following the last day of the course completion;
  • Update online course materials as needed and provide insight to the Campus Director; material must be kept current and consistent with the latest edition of the textbook and course content;
  • Complete marking of the final examination and submit final marks within five working days after the last day of the course;
  • Attend the Orientation Day, when possible, at the beginning of each academic year;
  • Organize remedial sessions whenever a course had to be cancelled due to an absence;

Position Requirements


To be successful in the Medical Office Administration Instructor position, individuals must be committed to developing, maintaining and demonstrating the following:

  • Relevant industry skills and knowledge relating to the area of instruction
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, including presentation and group facilitation
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students
  • MS-Office suite

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree, a diploma or a recognized certification in connection with the subject matter;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate and interact with a group of student and act like a facilitator (mainly with adult learners);
  • Five to ten years’ experience in a related field (Medical office administration in private clinic, hospital, CLSC etc…)
  • Two or more years of teaching experience and/or possession of instructor’s certificate
