FPInnovations is among the world’s largest private, non-profit research centers working in forest research. The organization helps the Canadian forest industry to develop pathbreaking solutions based on the unique attributes of Canada’s forest resources, favoring a sustainable development approach and taking full advantage of the industry’s considerable scientific, technological and commercial capital.
Under the supervision of the Manager, Business Development, Products and Services and as a key member of a multidisciplinary team, the selected candidate will be mainly responsible for supporting research groups to reach sales goals by marketing the innovation products and services portfolio. Negotiating agreements and close attention to customer satisfaction make up part of the daily challenges.
-Develop business/marketing plans for various innovative products and services in existing and new markets to meet customer needs. The marketing specialist will draft and submit value propositions to generate new business opportunities that vitalize corporate channels;
-Work closely with the market analysis group to gather information on target markets, prices, competition, customer expectations for a given product or service. He has to identify key partnerships and is involved in commercialisation activities and promotes the company’s growth;
-Perform research and prospecting activities to broaden business opportunities (customers, markets, partners) and grow the contact list for the research groups. He proposes new marketing opportunities and strategies based on customer expectations;
-Help the research groups fine-tune products and services that generate profit and meet customer needs;
-Help prepare product and service proposals, including marketing, legal, financial and intellectual property assessments that respect the research groups’ operational delivery constraints;
-Participate in decisions regarding requests for proposals, preparing and following up on offers of service and contract negotiations;
-Maintain constructive working relationships with the various stakeholders and regularly communicate pertinent information to them;
-Helps solve problems in a spirit of continuous improvement.
-University degree in business administration, engineering, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. An MBA would be an asset.
-A minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience including at least 3 years in marketing activities demonstrating significant sales results;
-Proven negotiatior and Change leader;
-Organizational skills, problem solving and analysis;
-Skills in project management;
-Integrity and team spirit;
-Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people from scientific staff to senior management positions;
-Good verbal and written communication skills in both English and French with high standards of quality;
-Willingness to travel regularly;
-Knowledge of the forest industry would represent an important asset.
