Underwrite, rate and issue average new, renewal and endorsement business (as assigned by Supervisor) within the assigned Underwriting Authority and within the Corporate Guidelines with the goal of achieving our Branch Objectives with respect to profit and growth.
To provide professional service to brokers while maintaining company standards in generating new business, servicing and reviewing existing business to achieve an underwriting profit.
The Intermediate Underwriter ensures communication with Broker Partners is consistent and fair and consistently delivers a value-added service to our Broker Partners. Developing effective Broker Partner relationships is the key to the success of this role. The Intermediate Underwriter plays a critical role in delivering best in class underwriting service and will balance the broker needs against the corporate priorities to enable profitable growth and underwriting excellence.
This role is focused on maximizing broker satisfaction whenever contact is made with a select group of Broker Partners. As a partner to a strong, national brand, and broker partner official representatives of Aviva Inc., our contact center is expected to deliver an exceptional broker experience.
Underwriters are responsible for delivering superior quality commitments and fostering a ‘One Stop Shop’ environment for our Broker Partners.
Underwriters are expected to continuously update soft skills through identified e.learn courses and product/industry knowledge through CIP, FCIP or other related industry accreditations.
Underwriters are expected to service our Broker Partner’s needs in a timely and informed manner. Broker connection should constantly be challenging status quo to ultimately provide ‘Best in Class’ underwriting services.
The underwriter has an opportunity to strongly influence the results of the Broker Survey. Pro-active steps taken throughout the year will contribute to a successful outcome of this survey.
Exhibit high degree of professionalism when representing Broker /Aviva and dealing with team members and the leadership team.
Skills and Experience:
2-3 years insurance experience
Enrollment in or completion of CIP (FCIP) designation
Strong negotiations skills
Demonstrate leadership capabilities
