The successful HR/LR Lead candidate will be responsible for;
-Employee Management
-Coach and mentor all HR staff
-Ensure feedback loop is followed on any issues that arise within the team
-Be directly involved with the recruitment and hiring of additional staff into the Human Resource roles
-Participate in all interviews
-Ensure functional coverage is maintained within the team
-Align the group to the Managed Transfer Process, and be directly involved with the team’s progression opportunities
-Perform Performance Management reviews on direct reports to enhance employee development
-Lead the team in various team building exercises to build and maintain a cohesive unit

Functional Responsibilities
-Lead and provide guidance within Human Resources laws and practices to the HR and Management teams
-Coach junior HR professionals and Management in all aspects of HR such as: performance management, policies, investigations etc.
-Lead all employee relations investigations in regards to disciplinary or human rights matters
-Fully engage the senior management staff on any matters that require escalation. Ensure the HR and/or LR Managers are aware of the investigations and the final result/decisions made
-Lead and guide the HR team in a variety of HR projects in regards to the employee lifecycle including recruitment, on-boarding, workforce development, employee management, termination etc.
-Review, coordinate and participate, if necessary, the departure of employees. Ensure proper documentation and forms are filled prior to the departure. Perform exit interviews as needed
-Lead the divisional bonus programs to ensure alignment with the division's strategic goals and plans
-Lead in the compliance of C-SOX requirements for HR procedures. Ensure procedures and actions are compliant to the control points
-Adhere to all HR policies and procedures, and provide any necessary approvals/authorization as per policies (including approving requisitions to hire, salary adjustments, and terminations)
-Create ad-hoc reporting from the HRIS system as required
-Lead and maintain the data integrity of information
-Lead and ensure the team's compliance in Flint's Safety programs including required safety training, Behaviour Based -Observation program, audits & attending monthly safety meetings
-Directly participate in the recruitment and selection process of all direct field staff, and support staff. Be involved in all aspects of the prehire stage with the recruitment group
-Lead the camp and travel team to ensure travel and boarding requests are submitted for all employees (Location Specific)
-Work closely with the Labour Relations (LR) team to ensure compliancy within the collective agreement
-Participate in the Employee Engagement results discussion. Participate in discussions on action plans for increased employee engagement
-Assist in the development of functional audits, and audit on a quarterly basis as per the HR Attest Schedule. Ensure all deficiencies are remediated

Communication
Collaborate with other functions to enhance project success on an as needed basis
Communicate and involve other functional groups within the division to the Human Resources Policies and Procedures
Provide constant updates and reporting on HR strategies and plans to senior management to ensure alignment with the Business Plan and initiatives

Document Administration
Approve and submit any invoice/timesheets which have business unit expenditures to the appropriate projects
Complete and submit monthly documents to the appropriate departments. (e.g. timesheets, expense reports, etc.)
Post, review and print off any required information from the electronic filing system which pertains to current tasks, responsibilities and projects

Job Requirements
Beginner Computer Skills:
-Microsoft Access

Intermediate Computer Skills:
-Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
-JD Edwards
-Advanced knowledge required within Human Rights and Employment Standards Laws
-Advanced knowledge required within Performance Management and Disciplinary practices
-Proven leadership, teamwork, negotiation, and people management skills
-Highly confidential towards sensitive employment matters

Formal Education:
-Minimum of Undergraduate Degree required
-Undergraduate degree within a Business Management or HR/LR related program

Professional Designation:
-Professional designation preferred
-Certified Human Resources Professional certificate considered an asset

Experience:
-Minimum of 5 - 7 years experience required within a HR generalist role
-Minimum 3 years LR experience in a unionized enviroment
-Experience within a heavy industrial construction sector an asset
-Minimum 2+ years within a supervisory role
