TITLE: FUND DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Under the direction and supervision of the Director, Fund Development, the Fund Development Officer will work to implement a comprehensive fund development program to insure the development goals of the organizations are met. As a first class development professional and persuasive communicator, this individual must be a results-oriented, enthusiastic team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and a strong capacity for initiative.
Conduct new prospect research in order to identify and establish new funding sources;
Cultivate, nurture and build positive and effective relationships with key stakeholders including business and community leaders, volunteers, funders and government officials;
Coordinate correspondence, meetings and expectations of donors and provide follow-up on all required donor and sponsor commitments;
Assist with the development of the annual campaign, donor and sponsor stewardship, identification of and development of sponsors for programs and exhibits;
Contribute to corporate and public awareness and positive image of TELUS World of Science services and facilities in order to achieve the fund development targets. The required fund development plan will include direct mail and face-to-face fundraising activities, as well as representation at on-site donor cultivation events and attendance at appropriate community functions;
Provide necessary information to support the activities of Executive Management and the Board of Directors;
Preparation of campaign reports, donor and prospect research; team building and participation with all staff, and project leadership as required;
Represent the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation and TELUS World of Science throughout the community as required and participate in additional activities that will promote and enhance our image;
Other related duties as required to fulfill the Mission of the Edmonton Space & Science Foundation.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of Alberta’s philanthropic community;
Computer proficiency using MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
Raiser’s Edge experience would be an asset.
Strong project management and communication (oral & written) skills; motivated and able to motivate others; proven success in relationship building; flexible and adaptable to change – this position requires creative thinking;
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a strong capacity for initiative and innovation;
Positive, enthusiastic attitude and an ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Membership in or the ability to hold membership in, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) or the Alberta Association of Fundraising Executives AAFRE.
Valid Drivers License

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 3 years of progressive responsible fundraising experience with proven results in individual donor cultivation and stewardship, corporation donations and sponsorship and in securing grants from a variety of funding sources;
University or equivalent post-secondary education would be an asset.
SALARY: $47,455.24 – $59,540.44 per year as per the 2013 Collective Agreement
HOURS OF WORK: Flexible hours of work – 75 hours bi-weekly.
