Data Analyst – Defined Contribution Pension Administration
Toronto, Ontario (Don Mills)
12 months Contract
Morneau Shepell can provide clarity among plan options and take the strain out of communications between members, administrators and fund managers. Our Ariel administration system is a robust recordkeeping platform that supports membership database updates, and provides electronic data interfaces, calculations and transactions.
Our Data Analyst is responsible for data management in the Defined Contribution Administration practice.
Ensures that all client data feeds are verified and loaded into the pension system
Applies data audit control procedures to ensure that data received from the client is loaded accurately; includes running queries and using existing tools to derive control totals which can be compared between the source and target files
Works with the business team to ensure that data discrepancies have been reviewed prior to updating the master database
Maintains clear and up to date documentation of data feeds that have been processed and any outstanding issues which need resolution
Runs regular and ad hoc reports and queries for multiple clients as requested by internal and external clients to support the business processes
Corrects client data on an as needed basis at the request of business team
Creates new reports; adds new functionalities to existing reports
Writes complex queries designed to gather information from a variety of different sources as required for client reports
Runs data conversion projects in support of new client implementations; includes writing data mapping specifications, analyzing client data in various formats, converting data to standard formats, running validations, and formatting data edit reports which are used by the business team to research and resolve data problems
Provides input to ongoing process improvements in the data management function
Attends internal training sessions to build knowledge of industry topics and trends
Acts as a technical resource for the Defined Contribution Administration practice
Ensures that quality control and service standards are attained with every transaction
Maintains excellent relationships with internal clients
Understands the internal client's priorities, and works with the client to resolve outstanding issues
Participates on special projects as required
Succeeding as a Data Analyst will require the following core qualifications and skills:
Strong analytical skills
Post-secondary education and related courses in information technology
Strong knowledge of Excel and MS Access
Strong knowledge of relational database models
Knowledge of file transfer protocols and asset
Knowledge of database applications, SQL, and Crystal Reports an asset
Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Dedicated team player with the ability to take the initiative and be independent
Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
