Position Title: Host

Department: Event Staff

We're looking for Event Hosts who are dedicated, team-oriented members who thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and who are committed to providing exceptional customer service to all our guests.

Primary Functions:
This position ensures that all guests, other employees, and general public are acknowledged and provided with exceptional customer service during a variety of events. General hosting duties include: Ticket Taking, Information Kiosk, Client Services Assistant, Cashier, Door Management

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with a smile and present yourself in a professional and courteous manner at all times
  • Handle Cash and Credit Card Transactions accurately and efficiently
  • Operate cash registers and maintain and verify float
  • Monitor your area for safety issues
  • Provide directions to guests regarding event details
  • Ensure that all guests are directed through the turnstiles
  • Ensure that all exhibitors do not go through the turnstiles
  • Monitor door access by Guests and exhibitors
  • Ensure that all people wanting to re-enter the building have a hand stamp, ticket or exhibitors’ badge
  • Provide directions to exhibitors and guests, respond to inquiries
  • Answer all inquiries including directions in Abbotsford and surrounding area
  • Direct exhibitors requesting Business Services
  • Provide Business Services when Administration is closed including handling cash.
  • Document all lost items brought to the Information Kiosk in the Lost and Found Tracking
  • Sell Exhibitor Parking Passes and Business Services such as photocopying
  • Complete tasks as directed by the Duty Manager

Qualifications and Experience

  • Strong customer service skills with previous experience dealing with the public
  • Excellent Math Skills
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient Problem Solving
  • Ability to work well under pressure and time restraints
  • Must be able to multi-task and follow instruction
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible schedule, extensive evenings and weekends and holidays as required

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to be a supportive team member
  • Exhibit a friendly and courteous style with strong communication skills
  • Ability to be assertive when dealing with difficult situations and large crowds
  • Mentally and physically able to deal with assigned tasks including exposure to seasonal heat and cold in an outdoor and indoor environment, extended periods of standing and at times extensive walking from one location to another on concrete surfaces
  • Ability to work in a confined area
