Located on the University of Calgary campus in the MacEwan Student Centre, the Students’ Union exists as an independent non-profit organization that provides a wide range of student services and programs, as well as representation and advocacy of student issues to university administration and government.
The Students’ Union welcomes applications for the following full-time staff position:
Coordinator, Events & Student Engagement (CESE)
You will take a lead role managing and organizing the slate of annual Students’ Union events, ranging from Orientation Week to end of year celebrations. The position requires strong mentorship and coaching skills as you will direct a team of student event coordinators in the planning and execution of events. You will provide advice to the student government on a variety of issues relating to effective uses of event programming, risk management, marketing and fostering a sense of community on campus.
You have 1-2 years of previous experience in professional event planning complimented with a university degree (preferably in communications, marketing, or equivalent) or an Event Planning diploma. A strong understanding of the student audience, the university environment and student engagement is required. Experience gained within a post-secondary education or non-profit setting is preferred.
