Business Development Specialist - Edmonton

Co-develop and implement business development plans for practice groups to complement the firm's strategic business plan and maintain the firm's position as a top tier service provider.
Work with lawyers to identify and pursue new business opportunities with firm clients and
Identify and evaluate cross-marketing prospects, assist with cross-marketing initiatives, manage sales pipeline and track success ratio.
Support practice group business development efforts by identifying potential leads, collecting and sharing business, industry and competitor intelligence.
Collaborate with lawyers to execute individual business development activities and plans.
Assist with the development of proposals and RFP responses; Work closely with lawyers to
pull together all relevant materials; Ensure best practices are followed throughout; Follow up with lawyers on outcomes and track proposal success ratio.
Work with Practice Group Leaders to develop and maintain practice specific profiles and coordinate content for directory submissions, web, print materials, RFPs, etc.
Develop and maintain dashboard providing data on success of various firm business development and marketing initiatives.
Update and edit firm-wide business development materials (including presentations, practice brochures, newsletters, and elements of intranet and website).
Work with lawyers to develop their biographies; Ensure biographies are regularly updated; Assist new lawyers with creation of their biography.
Identify professional and trade associations with which the firm should affiliate.
Collaborate with others in the business development & marketing department to ensure integrity of the firm brand.
Serve as a member of firm wide marketing team; Execute firm wide initiatives as assigned;. Participate in special projects at the behest of Marketing Committee, Executive Committee or the Director of Administration.
Strong knowledge of client development and principles in a professional service industry required.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, editing and proofreading skills required.
High degree of professionalism when interacting with both internal and external clients.
Independent self-starter capable of managing and prioritizing multiple time sensitive projects and priorities.
Ability to handle high pressure situations and interact with various personalities at all levels in the firm diplomatically.
Ability to make decisions and adapt to changing work situations and ability to grasp and apply new ideas.
Willingness to work flexible hours.
Strong computer skills including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Bachelors degree or diploma in commerce, business administration or relevant field.
3-5 years experience in a business development-related position.
Experience in a law firm or professional services environment strongly desired.
Although based in Edmonton, the Business Development Specialist must also be willing to
occasionally travel to and work from our Calgary and Yellowknife offices.
