On-Call Residence Staff
Columbia International College (CIC) is a private international boarding school that hosts over 1700 students from over 72 different countries in 6 different residence facilities located throughout Hamilton. Our Students range in age from 12years-20years old and come for a number of different programs including Junior Middle School, High School, University Prep, and ESL Classes.
Our Residence Program is currently recruiting for On-Call Residence Support staff to assist in providing coverage at our various facilities. These positions are used to cover Vacation schedules, Sick Days, as well as additional coverage during peak times.
There are 3 different shifts that the On-Call Residence Staff can be asked to cover: Weekday 3:00pm-12:00am (House Parent), Weekends Morning or Afternoon shift between 8:00am-Midnight/1:00am (House Parent), or Any Day 10:00pm-8:00am (Night Monitor).
- The afternoon shift (House Parent) is responsible for providing care for our students when they arrive at the residence after school. This includes doing homework checks, counseling students who are home sick, resolving roommate disagreements, checking students in and out of the residence building to monitor their safety, ensuring students go to bed on time, and overall developing rapport with students so that they feel comfortable approaching you with any issues or concerns they are having.
- The night shift (Night Monitor) is similar to the House Parent role in that they also assist in making sure students are going to bed on time and adjusting well to their new lives at CIC. However, this role is also responsible for our students’ safety during the night. This position monitors the residence facilities, addresses any students who arrive after curfew, responds to any emergency situations in the night, and ensures that students wake up and board the buses to school safely.
- Other Miscellaneous job duties include taking our unaccompanied minor students to medical visits and airport drop-off/pick-ups (transportation provided by us)
Room for Growth: Although you may start in an On-Call Residence position, CIC looks to these staff members to fill any vacancies in our full time residence staff.
We are looking for candidates who have open availability, are able to work any of these shifts depending on the needs of the school, and have experience working with students.
Columbia International College is committed to workplace diversity and provides accommodations, whenever possible, to applicants with disabilities throughout our hiring process. If you require an accommodation, please contact the Human Resources Assistant.
