Background

With 23 hospitals in seven states, Banner Health is rapidly emerging as one of the country’s leading health systems. The non-profit organization is integral to the Western communities it serves, from urban centers like Phoenix, AZ to remote towns like Fairbanks, AK and Fallon, NV. “We were already getting 1,000 visits a month via Indeed, so we decided to build on that success by sponsoring our jobs on Indeed,” Zibelman said. “We now see more than 20,000 visits a month, and the quality of applicants is higher with Indeed than with many other sources.”

Many of the jobs Banner Health sponsors on Indeed are considered hard to fill and premium placement within the organization. By sponsoring its jobs on Indeed, Banner Health has filled these types of jobs, including registered nurses, respiratory therapists and positions related to medical imaging, in locations such as Fairbanks, AK, Fallon, NV, and Page, AZ.

Results

Indeed provided Banner Health with more qualified candidates at a lower cost per applicant and lower cost per hire than search engine optimization (SEO) and job boards. “It’s difficult to find qualified applicants in health care, especially in the smaller towns,” Zibelman said. “With Indeed, we’re getting hires in our remote locations as well as in the big cities.”

During the 10-month period of this study, Indeed provided:

  • Lowest cost per applicant, 70 percent less than the next most cost-effective source
  • Lowest cost per hire, 65 percent less than the next most cost-effective source
  • Twice as many hires as the next most productive source
