The Four Villages Community Health Centre
The Four Villages Community Health Centre (Four Villages) invites candidates to apply for the position of Executive Director.
Four Villages is a non-profit, primary health care facility. Since 1991, it has been providing health care and allied professional related services to the West Toronto area bounded by the Humber River, Roncesvalles Avenue, Lake Ontario and St. Clair Avenue West.
The organization works within social determinants of health framework focusing on prevention and health promotion. It strives to reach individuals and groups in the community who face difficulty accessing the health system. Four Villages uses an interdisciplinary team approach in addition to strong collaboration with community partners. These teams work to provide coordinated services and programs for all ages, with a focus on isolated individuals, seniors, and people living with chronic illness and/or disability, families with children, youth and newcomers. The services and programs are delivered at the individual, group and community level.
As the senior executive of a vital community health organization, serving under the general direction of the Board, and working in conjunction with key partners and stakeholders, the Executive Director will have a unique opportunity to lead the strategic vision for the organization and steer the management team in planning and implementing the overall operations of the organization.
You will bring to Four Villages your solid executive management and change management skills, in addition to your strong business acumen. Your experience in leading or directing in a community health or human service organization, as well as your ability to understand and work with complex funding models, will serve you well as you monitor client and community needs, services, programs and systems in order to meet the ever changing demands placed on the organization.
As a natural relationship builder, networker and advocate, you have the ability to foster a values-based, community-focused environment using a facilitative leadership style where transparency, trust and personal accountability are important and valued by all staff, volunteers and stakeholders. You possess a sound understanding of working within the determinants of health framework and are comfortable working with diverse populations. You are a strong coach and a trusted leader, ensuring that the staff and management team have the tools and necessary information to be successful.
You demonstrate diplomacy, tact and respect when working with others. This will be an important asset both when working with community organizations and government on exploring possible integration and changes of services, and when advocating for Four Villages and the future of the CHC model.
You have a minimum of eight years progressive management experience, preferably with over five years at a senior management level, in the health and social services sector.
You are articulate, solution and goals oriented and are a comfortable decision maker with strong negotiating skills. A post graduate degree in public, health or business administration or a combination of an undergraduate degree with solid management experience is preferred. Familiarity with the Balanced Scorecard system would be an asset.
