The successful candidate will work for AltaPACS, jointly owned by RCA Diagnostics and EFW Radiology, which was established in 2003 to deliver break-through IT based solutions for two of Canada’s largest community diagnostic imaging medical partnerships. The goal of AltaPACS is to provide robust and sophisticated technological and clinical solutions, enabling a high performance clinical environment focused on optimal patient care.

Job Description
This position is a client facing role to provide technical support of desktop computers, applications, and related technology. Support will be provided through the helpdesk and visiting the clinics. Furthermore, the individual will become familiar with clinic workflow and will learn how to support the critical radiology applications. Work is performed with little supervision and requires initiative and judgment.


  • Assist staff with the installation, configuration, training and ongoing usability and management of desktop computers, applications and peripheral equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve desktop software and hardware problems including PCs, laptops, peripherals and clinical applications
  • Provide helpdesk services (respond to incoming calls, log and track incidents, keep staff informed)
  • Use various desktop management tools for asset and software management as well as remote desktop support and incident management
  • Work with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop computing equipment and software
  • Account administration: user account management, AD/domain accounts and email accounts
  • Maintain hardware and software inventory, assist in IT asset management, order computer supplies
  • Carry a PDA to provide support during non-business hours
  • Lift items up to 20 kg in weight (e.g. desktops, monitors etc)
  • Use hand tools to repair hardware


  • Up to 3 years relevant work experience in supporting computer hardware, Microsoft technologies (Windows 7, 2010 Office Suite) and basic network troubleshooting
  • Preference will be given to candidates with diagnostic imaging or healthcare application experience (PACS, RIS)
  • One or more of the following certifications:

o CompTIA A+ Certification for Computer Support and Service Technicians
o Dell (or similar) hardware certification

  • Diploma or higher in Computer Technology/Computer Science
  • A strong interest and ability to learn
  • Customer service driven, technically oriented while maintaining the ability to positively interact with non-technical clients
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent in English – written and oral
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently or as a part of a team
  • Ability to complete tasks effectively with minimal supervision
