The Communications Director is a part-time position responsible for providing the development and implementation of all Zion’s external and internal communications initiatives to its target audiences and members. All communications efforts and activities should be conducted in support of the church mission to share the love of Jesus.
Communications Planning: Develop clear two way communication strategies to effectively communicate and engage with church members, school families, rental groups and the greater Cloverdale community. The mission, strategic plan, and volunteer opportunities of Zion Lutheran Church are prominent and accessible. Integrate communications with Cloverdale Christian School and Zion Park Manor whenever possible.
Worship Arts: Work in tandem with pastors to create consistency in messaging from the front door to the back door. Join brainstorm and creative sessions in developing worship series and annual calendar. Develop creative and professional ways to communicate desired messages with the worship community including online, email, information boards, banners, powerpoint, bulletins, etc. Develop and maintain database to manage member, guest and user group information for communications.
Volunteer Teams: Coordinate volunteer teams and schedules that support various ministries; musicians, projectionists, ushers, Bible study, Sunday School leaders, greeters, etc.
Public Relations: Work with Pastors to establish and maintain the look, vibe, and feel of all outreach, promotions and communications representing Zion Lutheran Church. This includes answering phones and voicemail, signage, online, direct mail, flyers, newspaper, etc.
Online Presence / Social Media: Manage all aspects of ZLC's website and Facebook page providing timely and engaging content.
QUALIFICATIONS * A strong Christ-follower who can identify closely with the mission, values, vision and priorities of ZLC.
- A mature Christian who is growing in their personal walk with the Lord through committed Bible Study, prayer and service.
- Strong relational skills combined with an exceptional organizational ability.
- A willingness to be a “team player,” where collaboration can exist between all the staff, ministries, and volunteers within ZLC and CCS.
- An understanding and passion for Communications and Marketing as it relates to ministry.
- The proven ability to identify, train, lead, and care for volunteers.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills.
The successful candidate will work a minimum of 17 hours per week; Tuesdays and Thursdays in the office and Sunday mornings from 8am-1pm. Salary to be negotiated.
