Located in Northern British Columbia, Prince Rupert is a transportation hub north of Vancouver, BC. Operated by Repole Enterprises, Yellowhead Auto Repair has been serving the Prince Rupert community since 1975.

We are looking for an Automobile Technician/Mechanic to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

 Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
 Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
 Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
 Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. .
 Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
 Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
 Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
 Ability to perform both independently or as part of a team, a variety of jobs on varied equipment and vehicles as assigned.
 Perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision.
 Willing to personally upgrade skills as needed to keep current with Industry Standards.
 Perform other shop related tasks and maintain a clean and safe work area.
 Willing to work overtime or be “on call” in instances
 Ability to operate and understand the use of diagnostic equipment.
 This is a shop environment and as such noise becomes a factor from time to time, the use of hearing protection will be required. Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved foot protection is also required.
 Other duties as assigned.

Key Skills Required:
 3rd year or licensed Automotive ticket
 basic knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment
 Basic knowledge of operation of machining equipment (e.g. Lathe, drill press)
 Demonstrate and execute safe and skillful operation of equipment at all times.
 Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
 Displays enthusiasm, excellent customer service and a can do attitude.
 Ability to follow through and produce consistent & efficient results.
 Some managerial experience an asset and ability to lead
