Located in Northern British Columbia, Prince Rupert is a transportation hub north of Vancouver, BC. Operated by Repole Enterprises, Yellowhead Auto Repair has been serving the Prince Rupert community since 1975.
We are looking for an Automobile Technician/Mechanic to join our team.
Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles; completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.
Verifies vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems.
Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. .
Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service and parts options
Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
Ability to perform both independently or as part of a team, a variety of jobs on varied equipment and vehicles as assigned.
Perform assigned tasks with minimum supervision.
Willing to personally upgrade skills as needed to keep current with Industry Standards.
Perform other shop related tasks and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Willing to work overtime or be “on call” in instances
Ability to operate and understand the use of diagnostic equipment.
This is a shop environment and as such noise becomes a factor from time to time, the use of hearing protection will be required. Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved foot protection is also required.

Key Skills Required:
3rd year or licensed Automotive ticket
basic knowledge and ability to operate heavy equipment
Basic knowledge of operation of machining equipment (e.g. Lathe, drill press)
Demonstrate and execute safe and skillful operation of equipment at all times.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Displays enthusiasm, excellent customer service and a can do attitude.
Ability to follow through and produce consistent & efficient results.
Some managerial experience an asset and ability to lead
